Sleet

If wool sensitivity is a problem for you, take a look at this weighty and warm winter scarf knit from 100% mercerized cotton.  Paton's Grace has an appealing shine that reminds me of winter sleet (or freezing rain as it is sometimes called in the Pacific Northwest).  I was inspired by a lovely, woven and ruched scarf in the gift shop window I walk by enroute to work each day.  I like the luxurious feel of the wide width and the scarf tends to roll up a bit making it appear almost tubular, but it can be easily narrowed by 1/3 if you want.

Approximately 12" wide by 60" long

YARN:
Paton's Grace (100% mercerized cotton; 136 yds/50 g):  6 balls Clay  (color 60044)

NEEDLES:

One Size 3 (3.25 mm)

One Size 7 (4.50 mm)

Doesn't really matter

CO 57 sts (39 for narrower version) with smaller needles.

Row 1:  K1, sl1p, k1, psso, *k7, yo, k1, yo, k7, sl2p, k1, p2sso; * rep from * to last 18 sts, k7, yo, k1, yo, k7, k2tog, k1.
Row 2:  K9, *ktbl, k1, ktbl, k15;* rep from * to last 12 sts, ktbl, k1, ktbl, k9.

Rep Rows 1 & 2, then Row 1 once more (5 rows total).

Row 6:  With larger needles, k1 (edge st), *m1 (k into front & back of next st);* rep from * to last st, k1 (edge st).

Row 7:  P across.

Row 8:  K across.

Rep Rows 7 & 8  five more times, then Row 7 once more (13 rows total).

Row 20:  With smaller needles,  k1 (edge st), *k2tog;* rep from * to last st, k1 (edge st).

Repeat Rows 1-20 to desired length, ending after doing Row 5.

BO & weave in yarn ends.
